Look out USA, I’ve arrived!

Well, if you’re considering the flight between Australia and the US, can I suggest you think about it really hard. Even when prepared, it’s a killer!

Still, I arrived safe and sound, and have been in Seattle since Wednesday afternoon. If you’re from Seattle, can I just say, this is one of the prettiest cities I’ve ever seen. And so green! Melbourne’s been in drought for the last ten or so years, so I’m not used to seeing so much green, especially in the summer.

One thing I wasn’t prepared for: the hills. Why does nobody mention hills in conjunction with Seattle? When the hills are so steep you can take an elevator up to the next street level, I think it merits a mention in the guidebook. Or on a website somewhere.

In a couple of hours, I check in with the cruise ship, and then off we go for a week long cruise up to Alaska. I can’t wait, although I’m a bit worried about the weather. The summer temperature up there appears to be the same as the winter temperature back home, and I’ve never liked being cold…

Internet access will be intermittent over the next week or so, but I’ll try to post updates on my Alaskan Adventure whenever possible. I’ve never been on a cruise before, so I can’t wait!

About oliviaventura

I was born many years ago in... No, seriously, all you need to know about me is that I love love LOVE reading, and it's even more fun to write my own stories (I get to choose the ending that way). I've worked in plenty of different jobs, many in retail, which is the best way to meet some really colorful people, and also in recruitment, telecommunications, and food safety. I live in Melbourne, Australia, and I'm still on the lookout for Mr. Right, so if you know him, send him my way.

  1. I hear those Alaska cruises are FANTASTIC. It’s gorgeous up there. I don’t live in Seattle but visit often… it’s a great place! Yes, very green and pretty. And rainy 9 months of the year, which is why it’s so green and pretty. 😉
